Penny Jayne Black is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who plays acoustic/alternative/pop style songs.

Penny has had a variety of experience in the entertainment field, her acting skills lead to a Theatre tour in which she played the leading role in the Comedy "Butterflies Are Free", and her musical training enabled her to work with bands and perform as a solo artist in the U.K. and the U.S.

However, it wasn't until Penny started writing and performing her own songs, that she finally felt able to express herself fully, and in Oct 2005 she began performing solo acoustic gigs.

Penny's songs are inspired by a roller coaster of life experience, such as her work with 'survivors' in Sarajevo.

Her strong gutsy vocals and soulful lyrics add depth and warmth, to songs that scale a wide range of emotions and sing of love, passion, humour, and compassion for human rights as echoed in her song 'Sound Of Freedom'.

Please check out Penny's NEWS page for further developments, and her GIGS page for upcoming shows.

Penny's strongest musical influences: The Beatles and individual works of John, George and Paul.

Other influences include:  Allanis Morrisette,  Janis Joplin, Bon Jovi, Reba McEntire, Elvis, Gretchen Peters, Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Neil Diamond, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, LeAnn Rimes, Alicia Keys, Kings Of Leon, Florence and the machine.
