BIO

Penny Jayne Black is a multi-award-winning UK Americana, roots and blues-influenced singer-songwriter known for her soulful vocals, heartfelt songwriting and authentic storytelling.

Building an international reputation through a series of acclaimed releases, Penny first gained recognition within the UK Country and Americana scene, with career highlights including Bob Harris's 'Under The Apple Tree'; performance at 'The British Country Music Awards' , along with prestigious honours including UK Country Radio Awards for 'Song of the Year' and 'UK Female Country Singer of the Year', and multiple GSMC Music Awards. In the U.S.A. her Nashville-distributed singles 'Steel Horse' and 'Gone', both charted on the 'Music Row Country Breakout Charts'. These successes led to showcase performances at Nashville's renowned Country Radio Seminar (CRS).

Music has been part of Penny's life from an early age. Inspired by her father's love of music and her fascination with American culture, she developed a deep appreciation for the storytelling traditions of country, blues and Americana. As a teenager, she was drawn to the sounds and imagery of the United States, influences that would later shape her song-writing and ultimately lead her to perform and showcase in Nashville.

Following the tragic loss of her son in 2023, Penny stepped away from music for a period of reflection and healing. Returning with renewed purpose and creative vision, she embarked on a new chapter marked by artistic growth and a broader musical palette.

In 2026, her rendition of "Black Coffee" reached No. 2 on the UK iTunes Blues Chart introducing her music to an even wider audience. Her latest single, ''What You Do to Me'', continues that evolution, blending warm Mediterranean-inspired rhythms, Americana roots and soulful vocals into a vibrant celebration of connection, passion and summer romance.
